Thomas Krol

Director

Thank you for believing in West Nairobi School! We are honored to be able to partner with you and provide a quality Christian education to your son / daughter.

West Nairobi School started in 1996 and has since grown tremendously. We believe that WNS is God’s school. Our strong Biblical ties are foundational for everything we do (academics, athletics, community, discipling). We also place a strong emphasis on developing the whole child. Our school is best described as a community nurturing students spiritually, socially and emotionally.

This year our school theme is: Training Minds. The Bible verse to go along with our theme is Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

We will also be placing strong emphasis this school year on being anchored in Christ. Jesus is the sure and steadfast anchor of our soul and our hope is in Him (Hebrews 6:19-20).   We want to extend an invitation for you to come to WNS and set up a meeting. If you have questions or ideas we would love to sit down and talk. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

A little bit about me: I have a Bachelors in Secondary Education (Social Studies) from Western Michigan University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University. I have taught in Florida public schools, online, and in Christian schools for 11 years. I have served as Secondary Principal for 5 years. This year marks my 9th year here in Kenya at West Nairobi School. In my free time I like to jog, read books, cook, and play with my boys!

Sincerely,
Thomas Krol

Elementary Principal

Education has always been my passion, and I love working with children of all ages. Before coming to West Nairobi School, I taught in the American system for 11 years. I have taught elementary, middle and high school, and I worked in both public and private schools in the U.S. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in History and Spanish from Western Kentucky University and a Masters of Education in Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction from Trevecca Nazarene University. I also hold a Doctorate of Education in Leadership and Professional Practice from Trevecca Nazarene University. I have served as both the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and the Elementary Principal at WNS, having served here since 2018.

Charlene B. Mutai, Ed.D.

Middle School Principal

I have been blessed to serve West Nairobi School as a teacher, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and Middle School Principal. Early adolescence is such an important time in a young person's life. My goal is to encourage a school culture in which all students belong and have the opportunity to find their God-given passions. I'm personally passionate about supporting teachers to implement research- proven instructional strategies to make students successful in the classroom and beyond. I've worked in education for 15+years. I received undergraduate degrees from Concordia University, Nebraska in Secondary Education and Theology. My Masters degree is in Educational Technology and Design from Concordia University, Wisconsin. It is my honor to partner with families and teachers to educate middle schoolers!
Elaine Kirui, M.Ed

High School Principal

My life vision is: “to find my joy in God and delight myself in him, and lead others into finding their joy in God.” My wife and I traveled to various countries in our twenties doing mission work, and we love seeing the body of Christ represented in other cultures. I enjoy dates with my wife, soccer, reading, a good Americano, working out, camping, and spending time with my kids. My undergraduate degree from MSU Mankato is in International Business. I earned my Master’s degree in Teaching from Bethel University. My K-12 Principal license work was completed at the University of Minnesota. My role before coming to WNS was Principal of True Light Christian School in Marshall, MN, where I served as Head of School and middle school teacher for six years. Before that, I served as a District Principal at OneSchool Global in Minneapolis for seven years. My desire for our WNS high school students is that they grow in their God-given gifts while seeing the joy in learning. I want to see our young people graduate from WNS equipped to live the life God has called them to. To this end, I look forward to partnering with parents on this journey of Christian education.

Zachary Schubert

Director of Finance

It is a blessing for me to serve West Nairobi School with the Finance and Facilities teams. In the Lord’s preparation for this new role, He has allowed me to obtain a Masters degree in accounting from Liberty University with an undergraduate degree in religion and philosophy from Bluefield University. Previously, I spent fifteen years in Law Enforcement where I served in many roles including an Instructor at the Academy teaching various topics including law and Emergency Vehicle Operation and Control. Since then, I have spent over a decade in operations in private industry. My hobbies include SCUBA diving up to the instructor level, motorcycling, and hiking. I look forward to serving the students, parents, and staff at West Nairobi School.
Respectfully,
Jeremy Hood,
Director Finance and Facilities

Director of Curriculum & Instruction

Greetings to our WNS Families and potential families. My husband, Jeremy and I are beginning our service at WNS this Fall (August 2026). I am passionate about strong instruction and curriculum as it shapes the foundation of classroom experience for all students Pk-12. I love people and connecting across cultures. My job will be to serve as a support and resource for your student’s teachers. To that end, I have served 20 years in the public school setting in the United States with many talented educators and five years in private cooperative education. Together, the faculty and staff at WNS create a unique and supportive environment for all learners. We partner with our families and seek to serve. This spring (March 2026) I completed my Ph.D. in special education from Regent University. I hold an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Regent as well. I am a member of the Council for Exceptional Children and look forward to continuing the strong work of educating the world’s children and youth at WNS.

Courtney Hood, Ph.D.
