Thomas Krol

Director

Thank you for believing in West Nairobi School! We are honored to be able to partner with you and provide a quality Christian education to your son / daughter.

West Nairobi School started in 1996 and has since grown tremendously. We believe that WNS is God’s school. Our strong Biblical ties are foundational for everything we do (academics, athletics, community, discipling). We also place a strong emphasis on developing the whole child. Our school is best described as a community nurturing students spiritually, socially and emotionally.

This year our school theme is: Training Minds. The Bible verse to go along with our theme is Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

We will also be placing strong emphasis this school year on being anchored in Christ. Jesus is the sure and steadfast anchor of our soul and our hope is in Him (Hebrews 6:19-20).   We want to extend an invitation for you to come to WNS and set up a meeting. If you have questions or ideas we would love to sit down and talk. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

A little bit about me: I have a Bachelors in Secondary Education (Social Studies) from Western Michigan University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University. I have taught in Florida public schools, online, and in Christian schools for 11 years. I have served as Secondary Principal for 5 years. This year marks my 9th year here in Kenya at West Nairobi School. In my free time I like to jog, read books, cook, and play with my boys!

Sincerely, Thomas Krol

Education has always been my passion, and I love working with children of all ages. Before coming to West Nairobi School, I taught in the American system for 11 years. I have taught elementary, middle and high school, and I worked in both public and private schools in the U.S. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in History and Spanish from Western Kentucky University and a Masters of Education in Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction from Trevecca Nazarene University. I also hold a Doctorate of Education in Leadership and Professional Practice from Trevecca Nazarene University. I have served as both the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and the Elementary Principal at WNS, having served here since 2018.

Charlene B. Mutai, Ed.D.

Middle School Principal

I have been blessed to serve West Nairobi School as a teacher, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and Middle School Principal. Early adolescence is such an important time in a young person's life. My goal is to encourage a school culture in which all students belong and have the opportunity to find their God-given passions. I'm personally passionate about supporting teachers to implement research- proven instructional strategies to make students successful in the classroom and beyond. I've worked in education for 15+years. I received undergraduate degrees from Concordia University, Nebraska in Secondary Education and Theology. My Masters degree is in Educational Technology and Design from Concordia University, Wisconsin. It is my honor to partner with families and teachers to educate middle schoolers!
Elaine Kirui, M.Ed

High School Principal

It has been a joy and an honor to become a part of the WNS family. I am blessed to work with my favorite age group, high school students! I love to watch them learn new skills, while they dream and plan for their future. As their parents, you have a front row seat to watch your child become a young man or woman. Although these years are fun in many ways, they come with challenges. It is a privilege to partner with parents, to see that they are fully prepared to face adulthood, college, and the workplace.I have over 20 years of experience in the field of education. These years have been filled with opportunities to work with children of all ages and even adult learners. I have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. At WNS, we have a strong academic program and the privilege of teaching them about faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. We want to see them leave our school ready to fulfill their God-given purpose.

Blessings

Ronda Hilman

Director of Finance

West Nairobi School is a special place for my wife and I as we serve here with the Finance and Facilities teams. Having previously served at a NICS sister school in Brasilia, I have enjoyed meeting many of our parents and families that make WNS their school home. I work with a great team in our finance department who are committed to making the tuition process as simple as it can be. I also work with our amazing facilities team as they keep our campus safe, clean, and beautiful. This also includes our team of drivers who daily make sure your children arrive safely to school and get home on time.

I have many years of international experience in Finance as well as cross-cultural youth work. I look forward to seeing this campus continue to grow through intentional building projects, moving to self-sustaining energy, and keeping our campus as green as possible while ensuring we have a great Faculty who make a difference in your children’s lives.
