“Pursuing Excellence”
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17 NIV)
The mission of West Nairobi School Athletics is to employ competitive sports to develop within our students, not just physical prowess, but the depth of faith, strength of character, and skills of leadership required for a lifetime of service to Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. This mission enriches the spiritual, intellectual, physical, and emotional welfare of student-athletes, enhances the reputation of WNS, and is characterized by excellence.
Excellence in athletics compels WNS athletes and teams to prepare, and then perform, to the best of their abilities each time they take the field, and we aspire to nothing less. If we are going to worship God through athletics then we must pursue excellence at all times. Striving for excellence means:
-We must strive to put the best team on the field or court with the goal of exceeding our potential as individuals and as a team.
-We will strive for excellence as coaches by teaching solid fundamentals, building leaders, and developing the best offensive and defensive schemes to fit our personnel.
-We will strive for excellence as players by giving our best and encouraging others to give their best at all times.
-We will strive for excellence by modeling Christ in promoting an environment that is rich in sportsmanship.
West Nairobi School is a part of the Kenya Association of Independent International Schools Sports Organization (KAIISSO). There are 24 other schools in this association. During the course of one year, WNS plays each of these teams, either at home or away, in the four sports that are offered. WNS also attends an average of 6-8 tournaments each year, which includes schools both in the KAIISSO league and not.
